DLVPC Workshops for Faculty Teaching
UMB CCDE Fully Online and Blended Courses .Required Workshops:
In addition to all WebCT Vista workshop sessions thatUMB CCDE requires first time UMB CCDE online and blended course faculty members to attend, CCDE also requires that first-time instructors teaching a fully online and/or a blended course attend workshops provided by the Distance Learning Video Production Center (DLVPC). CCDE requires the following DLVPC-sponsored workshop for both first-time fully online instructors and first-time blended course instructors:

Wimba Classroom Basic Workshop
NOTE: Although instructors teaching CCDE blended courses are not required to use (nor to train to use) Wimba Classroom, instructors of CCDE-sponsored blended courses may choose to use Wimba Classroom. To use Wimba Classroom, instructors must first attend the Wimba Classroom Basic Workhop.

The Distance Learning Video Production Center offers three optional workshops to UMB CCDE online faculty members. The optional DLVPC-sponsored workshops are named:

Adobe Presenter (Breeze) Basic Workshop

NOTE: This workshop is for faculty members who have used PowerPoint effectively whether online or in face-to-face courses. Installing Adobe Presenter on your PC adds an Adobe Presenter menu inside PowerPoint. This allows you to convert your existing presentations to a web-based format easily accessible to your students from within the Blackboard Vista browser without the need for additional software. You will learn the basic functions of Presenter including adding and editing audio. You will also learn how to post links to these presentations in your Blackboard Vista course sections.
Although the Distance Learning Video Production Center provides this training primarily for CCDE online instructors, the Breeze server is available for use by all UMB faculty teaching online and/or web-enhanced courses. Therefore, all UMB faculty members are welcome to attend this workshop on a space-available basis.

Wimba Voice Basic Workshop

NOTE: This workshop is for faculty members who want to learn to use a suite web-based voice tools that support vocal instruction, collaboration, coaching, and assessment. The tools in Wimba Voice include threaded voice boards, voice-enabled email, embedded voice within course pages, as well as live group discussions. (See http://www.wimba.com/products/wimba_voice/#wV-features for details of the features of 'Voice Podcaster', 'Voice Presentation', 'Voice Discussion Board', 'Voice Authoring', and 'Voice E-mail').
Although the Distance Learning Video Production Center provides this training primarily for CCDE online instructors, the Wimba Voice service is available for use by all UMB faculty teaching online and/or web-enhanced courses. Therefore, all UMB faculty members are welcome to attend this workshop on a space-available basis.

Wimba Classroom Practice Workshop
Dates, Times -- By arrangement, with a minimum of three instructor-trainees required to support meaningful "mock" teaching sessions.
NOTE: This optional workshop provides formal practice in leading synchronous conferencing sessions in Wimba Classroom. The workshop is designed for UMB CCDE online faculty who have completed the Wimba Classroom Basic Training.
