Recent Awards

UMass Boston's Distance Learning Video Production Center, a unit within the IT Communication and Infrastructure Services and the Division of Corporate, Continuing and Distance Education, has won numerous awards in video production.

The Center received an “Award of Distinction” in the “2006 Communicator Awards Competition” for its work on the production, “Latin by the Sea.” The “Latin by the Sea” video was produced for the Division of Corporate, Continuing and Distance Education in conjunction with the UMB Applied Linguistics Program.

The Center also won an “Award of Distinction” in the “2006 Communicator Awards Competition” for its work on the “Stay the Course, Go the Distance” video program. The “Stay the Course, Go the Distance” video was produced for UMB's Adult Literacy Research Institute.

The Center won an “Award of Distinction” in the “2005 Videographer Awards Competition” for the video they produced for the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Community Partnership Awards. This program was produced for the Massachusetts Campus Compact.

The Center received an “Award of Excellence” in the Multi-Media/Streaming Video category, in “The 2003 Videographer Awards Competition.” The award was given to the Center for its work on the production, “First Tuesday.” First Tuesday was a joint production of the College of Public and Community Service's Community Media and Technology program, The Commonwealth Broadband Collaborative and the Distance Learning Video Production Center.

The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communication field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for organizations or individuals whose talent demonstrates a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the video production industry. The Award of Distinction is awarded for projects that exceed industry standards in production or communication skill and meet the high standards of the industry.

The Videographer Awards is an international awards competition that helps set the standard for the video production industry. The “Award of Excellence” is given to projects which the judges deemed to be written, produced, shot and edited in an exceptional manner.
