Online Training Options for Horizon Wimba Live Classroom (Synchronous Conferencing)
For UMB CCDE online faculty members who have experience working in Centra, CCDE will not require on-site Horizon Wimba Live Classroom training. Most with Centra experience should feel comfortable making the transition from Centra to Wimba by attending online Wimba training sessions, then arranging to particpate in formal or informal practice sessions in their own Horizon Wimba Live Classrooms.
There are several options available immediately for faculty members who wish
to pursue Horizon Wimba training online. These options include participation in
remote, live, trainer-led sessions conducted by trainers from HorizonWimba.com,
on a published schedule, and/or the playback of archived (recorded) training
sessions. In all cases, the training features trainers from HorizonWimba.com.
In some cases, the training is available to the general public, in live format
on a published scheduled, and in an archived format, for 24/7 access.

ARCHIVED TRAINING ON CREATING AND MANAGING LIVE
CLASSROOM IN WEBCT
There is also an archived training online which, a hour into the session,
covers the design and management of
Wimba from within WebCT Vista (in the manner UMB CCDE is deploying Wimba). This
training session was run by HorizonWimba.com trainers and have been made
available for use by UMassonline faculty. The Wimba archive is titled "Training

NOTE: Both username and password are case sensitive.
Be advised, though, that almost
the entire first hour of this 2-hour training covers operation within Live
Classroom itself. Therefore, to get to
the training that pertains to creating and managing archives in WebCT Vista
3.x, you will want to use the Archive’s navigation frame to advance to the
“in-point” that is at “56:59” (meaning 56 minutes and 59 seconds) into the
session.

circled in red, when actually in the archive to advance to the in-point at
which the presenter begins to discuss creating and managing Live Classroom in
WebCT Vista.

Wimba Live Classroom Documentation
After training to use Wimba, UMB CCDE online faculty may wish to reference Wimba documentation to learn more about specific tasks and techniques. The HorizonWimba.com web page at http://www.horizonwimba.com/support/liveclassroom/docs.php includes links to several HW Live Classroom manuals and support documents. However, most of this documentation is not specific to using a Horizon Wimba Live Classroom installation embedded in a WebCT Vista 3.x environment, the situation UMass Online supports for UMass Boston's CCDE online program.
